Design Services
Anodyne uses a few simple guidelines to direct our graphical design efforts. While there are always exceptions to these rules of thumb, we do not discarded them lightly.
Less is more
Every business owner is tempted to put everything about their business they can possibly think of on their site. You love your business and you want everyone that sees your website to know why. We feel this works against you by complicating your business in the eyes of your potential customers. Focus on one thing that your company does. When in doubt, leave it out.
User experience matters
Even for utilitarian applications, a pleasing look and feel is important. If you have to use an application every day, you don't want to be turned off by it's garish, unprofessional appearance. Clear, well thought out navigation and judicious use of images make you more efficient by allowing you to perform your tasks quickly. Fewer page loads equal greater efficiency. Immediate user notification of data entry errors reduce errors.
Provide feedback tools
Sometimes your customers don't agree with the decisions made regarding the "Less is more" rule. Give them an easy method of informing you of their opinion. This provides ideas about how to improve their experience when using your application.
Keep it fresh
Visiting a website that has out of date content or invalid information damages your credibility (we've done that, too). Building technology refresh tasks into your application life-cycle plan can help. Some simple automation techniques, like expiring content or visitor personalized information, can relieve you of the need to constantly manage your site manually.
Test usability
Ok, so we think we've done a good job making the application easy to use. Now it's time to put our ideas to the test. With a design and usability analysis, Anodyne puts together a battery of multi-stage tests that let us measure the effectiveness of the design. The results are compiled and analyzed to provide insight into where the application can be improved in the next release.
